We are guided by the central element of our mission statement here at the German School Seoul International (DSSI) in Hannam-Dong, in the heart of Seoul.
As the only recognized German School Abroad on the Korean Peninsula, DSSI has been a place of learning About and encountering people of different cultures and backgrounds since 1976. Since August 2020, I have been the head of this small but excellent school and am proud to be able to develop our school sustainably for the future, together with everyone involved.
Our Education Program
• A school community from kindergarten through to the German International Abitur
• Small learning groups create a family atmosphere
• A wide range of activities are included in the all-day and special needs program
• Inclusive support in German as a foreign language and other subject areas
• German is the primary language of instruction, with the option of Abitur examinations in English
• Early introduction to English language starting in kindergarten
• Some subjects taught in English throughout the school years up to the Abitur
Our Support and Quality Assurance
The Federal Republic of Germany supports our school through the secondment of teaching staff as well as through financial funding. We are regularly supported and evaluated by the Central Agency for Schools Abroad (ZfA) and by representatives of the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs (KMK).
Most recently, this took place in spring 2024, when the Federal–State Inspection once again awarded our school the “Excellent German School Abroad” quality seal, granting top ratings particularly in the area of teaching and learning.
